Camping in November

We went to Huntsville State Park last weekend on a camping trip with our friends Tahlia, Jeff, and Lily Butler and my sister Haley and her family. We just stayed over night Friday night, but we had a great time together and enjoyed some wonderful food. It actually got pretty chilly that night and didn't warm up very fast the next morning. We weren't as prepared as we should have been for the cold morning. It probably got down to the low 50's/high 40's that night, but that is cold to us Houstonians!
It got cold about halfway through the night, so we took Dallin out of the pack-and-play and let him sleep between us in our sleeping bag. He normally doesn't sleep well next to us, but we each took one hand to warm it up, and he slept all night holding our hands. When he woke up the next morning, he looked at me and then turned and looked at Zane and then smiled a huge grin. He was so excited to wake up between us!
Dallin's morning feed
I tried to feed him his bottle cold because that was how he had it during the hurricane, but he would have none of it. (I think the bottle was a little colder having been outside all night than it was during the hurricane on those hot, September days.) Zane had to hurry and start up the stove to get him some warm milk!
Our little family inside our tent
We went on a hike (nature walk really in Houston) and Dallin promptly fell asleep.

Well, he wasn't the only one. His cousin, Caleb, fell fast asleep too.

Dallin and Caleb playing in the "cage." Dallin couldn't stay in the cage long though because leaves would blow in and he would promptly put them in his mouth. Eating leaves leads to choking and throwing up with Dallin (thank goodness he has good reflexes), so he had to sit on some one's lap or in his stroller most of the time.

Snuggling up with dad

When we got home, I put Dallin on the ground with his toys. He was so excited to be able to move around freely, that he immediately popped up and started crawling. He now crawls all over the place. I'm really glad he waited until 9 months to crawl, because I enjoyed the sitting up and playing with toys stage a lot!
