Decorating Easter Eggs

Dallin loves decorating eggs. It is a good thing I was in charge of making devil eggs because Dallin can decorate a lot of eggs!!! When we decorated eggs at preschool, he would break the egg right after putting it into the dye and eat it. He did much better at our home where we told him he couldn't eat any eggs! I can't believe how much he likes hard boiled eggs.

Decorating eggs is serious business

Zane and I got to decorate a couple, but mostly this is Dallin's chance to be the artist.

I can't believe Zane caught this face. This is my Dallin is being silly face.
Next year Gavin will be able to join us. This year he chose to nap.

Aunt Lindsey Come to Play

Aunt Lindsey came to visit during Easter break with her boyfriend. We spent Friday night having a picnic in a park, flying kites, playing on the playground, throwing a Frisbee etc. We had a great time.

Dallin was like Spiderman climbing up and down this rope thingy. I was very impressed with his skills

Friends

I love watching these two together. This is Gavin's cousin Alex who is 6 weeks younger. They are too young to actually play together, but they are starting to notice each other and interact.

Notice the hand behind her back. Very protective of his younger cousin.

Just the Boys and Me (trying not to miss daddy)

This post is really just about me taking my boys to the zoo. The pictures aren't great although my boys are stinkin cute. The real reason for this post is to document me taking the boys to the zoo by myself on a Saturday.

I recently bought a zoo membership. As I was laying in bed Saturday morning with boys jumping around me not letting me sleep, I kept thinking what we could do for fun because Zane had to work. I enjoy being a stay at home mom. It is a difficult job, but I wouldn't trade it for any other. I don't enjoy being a stay at home mom on Saturday too. I get moody, frustrated and no one likes to be around me. So, I decided Saturday morning to pack a picnic lunch and drive 45 minutes to the zoo. I had a few reservations the biggest being Dallin doesn't always stay by me, so there is the constant keeping an eye on the stroller with Gavin and keeping up with Dallin. In a crowded place, it can get difficult.

The trip was a success besides it being an extremely busy day at the zoo and finding parking was a pain. Dallin stayed by me the whole time and Gavin ate and took a nap when he needed to. We enjoyed a nice outing (we only stayed a few hours and avoided the kids play area) and Dallin told me later that night that mommy was his best friend as I told him story after story about the white alligator from the zoo.

Dallin in the reptile building. This was his favorite place. We saw it three times.

Taking a break to cool off

Gavin eating his cheerios. Whenever we go out, we will have multiple people commenting on how cute Gavin is. At the zoo, three different women walked by and made a comment saying something like, "Look at that cute baby. He is eating cheerios!" I just laughed because all babies eat cheerios but I guess Gavin eating cheerios is extra cute.

Posing for me

Getting ready to take his nap
On the way home, I discovered something about Gavin (meaning he cried for most of the drive home which is where having a second adult in the car would have really helped). He hates to be in a stroller for a few hours then go straight into the car seat with out having a chance to crawl around. Our baby who was so content to lay there watching the world around him for so long is now not content unless he is on the move!

Our trip was a success and I'm sure Zane enjoyed coming home from work to a happy but tired wife instead of a grumpy wife.

When Dallin's away...

Gavin enjoys playing with his favorite toys without someone else having a problem with it.

The Banshee is Gavin's favorite (Dallin's Christmas present)

but he loves the Monster Trucks too.
Who needs baby toys when the big toys are so much cooler!

Green Smoothies

Messy but they love them! Dallin will eat anything but Gavin is pickier, so I was thrilled when he devoured his smoothie.

My Sister's Project

My sister is doing a college project to see how many people she can reach through YouTube. Check out this video and you might see someone you recognize.

9 Months- March 26th (Reposted with videos)

I can't believe how fast this little boy is growing. My friends keep asking me if Gavin ever cries. He does have his cranky moments like any baby, but he definitely has a very peaceful, happy personality. And of course, he loves to smile! Here are some cute pictures of my precious baby.

Discovering a new toy: My blog friend posted about her son playing in his cozy coupe, and it reminded me that we also have the insert for the inside so that a baby can sit in it. (We originally bought it when Dallin was too old for the insert part.) I dug it out and my boys enjoyed a new toy!

Gavin with his cousin Alex- Her older brother told me that they were going to get married because they like to play together. I informed him that they couldn't marry...they're cousins!!!

Another cute smile

Here are Gavin's stats:
Height- 29 in (70%)
Weight- 20 lbs 13 oz (48%) Gavin only gained a pound in the last three months. Sometimes he is a great eater and some days he just refuses. We are down to three bottles a day because I just couldn't get him to drink more than that. Sometimes the third bottle will be at 9 p.m. (I can feed him in his sleep) because he refused to have a bottle before bed time. He would rather sleep than eat. He likes cheerios now and hates his oatmeal, so we are feeding him less cereal and more cheerios. In the last three months, he has become a very active baby too. I was concerned at first about his weight, but the doctor thought Gavin looked perfect (of course).
Head: 17 1/2 in (22%)

I also wanted to capture on camera how happy Gavin is when he wakes up. He moves all around his bed playing, giggling, and having a party. I love how happy he is to see me.

Gavin's perfected the army crawl this last month. He was tired in this video, so we didn't catch how fast he is. He has figured out how to get around and isn't content to being contained anymore!

We are loving this stage!

St Patrick's Day

I'm obviously a little behind in blogging!

Our friends planned a fun picnic and treasure hunt at a park. There was quite a turn out because St Patrick's Day landed on Spring Break. It was hard to keep track of your child because all you could see was a sea of green!

I think this is one of Dallin's new favorite holidays. Zane and I still get pinched every once in awhile if we aren't wearing green even though we explained it was for one day only! Next year I think Dallin will understand the holiday better so I need to get creative with the color green!

Preschool Fieldtrip- Butterfly Museum

At the beginning of March, our preschool (my sister and I teach together) took a trip to the butterfly museum (we left our babies with Grandma). This is my 3rd time going I think, but it was still as enjoyable as ever. Dallin loves all the critters and things to see in the museum part and really enjoys walking around looking at butterflies and saying hi to the iguana. He had an even better time because he was with his friends. We had a picnic at the end and let the kids run around. I love going on fieldtrips and having the students experience what we are talking about. I also love going to places at a cheaper rate because we are a preschool. My friend asked if we were going to look into Sea World and see what kind of discounts they give for preschool fieldtrips! Enjoy the pictures!
