Welcome Carter

Dallin loves his new cousin Carter. He constantly says his name now and ask if he is sleeping.
My sister Haley had Carter on March 30 at 10:15. March 30 is also Haley's birthday, so they were trying to keep him in a little longer, but Carter really wanted to see the world. Ironically, I was in the hospital parking lot when he was born. My sister and her husband were in such a rush to get to the hospital, that they left some papers at home that they thought they needed. I took them to the hospital, and the next thing I knew, I was in the delivery room watching Haley in labor. Carter was coming fast, so there was no time to give Haley an Epidural. I was mesmerized as I watched her. I had never seen anyone in labor and was so proud of her. I wanted to say good job or something, but I realized there was probably a reason her husband was talking to the doctor and not Haley. I was only in the room for a couple of minutes when the doctor told Haley to turn on her back because it was time to push. I decided that was my cue to leave. Haley was in the hospital for an hour before she had Carter. Both Haley and baby Carter are doing well although very sleep deprived.

Zoo

While the weather is beautiful, we joined some friends at the zoo. Dallin is at a great age to enjoy the zoo. Everything is new and really cool. We watched an elephant get a bath and giraffes walk around. We had to drag the boys away from these. Other animals aren't quite as entertaining. The lion, tigers, and bears tend to rest every time we go to the zoo. The children's area is also a lot of fun. Here are some cute pictures of three cute boys, our friend Ammon, our cousin Caleb, and Dallin. Caleb and Ammon are the same age and Dallin is six months younger although Caleb is the shortest.

Grandma joined us last minute which thrilled Dallin and Caleb. My sister Haley also came even though I told her to stay home and rest. I kept saying that if she spends the day walking around the zoo, she will for sure have her baby the next day on her birthday. Well, her son Carter was born at 10:15 p.m. on her birthday.

Looks like they had a great time!

Dyeing Easter Eggs

Sunday morning we dyed eggs before conference. Dallin had some practice at this in his little playgroup he goes to. He knew that you could peel an egg and smash it. He was intent on dyeing for a while then switched to peeling and smashing the eggs. Lot's of fun and a huge mess!

Easter Egg Hunt

The Tuesday before Easter our neighbor invited us over for an Easter egg hunt. Dallin learned one important concept from this hunt. He discovered after picking up four eggs that there was candy inside. He stopped picking up eggs after that so that he could enjoy his candy. Zane tried to convince Dallin that the more eggs you pick up, the more candy you get in order to stop him from eating the candy he already had, wrapper and all. Dallin is apparently the live in the moment kind of person. Eat now then pick up more. If you point to an Easter egg and ask Dallin what it is, he will say candy. If I mentioned that the Easter bunny was going to come, he would reply candy. All we heard on Sunday was the words bunny and candy. Who cares about the basket the Easter bunny brought him with small toys in it. All he wanted was the candy.

After our Easter dinner on Sunday, we had an Easter egg hunt with my family at our house. Dallin was on a mission, so the first egg he picked up, he shook it, then dropped it and moved onto another. Some of the eggs had candy in them, but most of them had stickers or small toys like bouncy balls. I was amazed to watch my little two-year-old shake every egg knowing that he would hear something if candy was inside versus a sticker. He has a six sense when it comes to any sugar treat. He can hear a candy being opened in a room full of noisy people. He will run up to that person and ask for some. Obviously, all candy is hidden in our house. One day though he is going to figure out that it is hidden and start looking for it. My brother used to do that. We better watch out!

Enjoying the Spring Weather

We haven't visited these fountains since last summer, but Dallin didn't forget what to do. He was tentative at first and ran up to tell me he was wet. When I told him that was ok, all hesitation left and he had a great time.
